The ranch in Tennessee — the one she loved more than Nashville itself — is still standing. The guitar is still there. The rocking chair on the porch is still there. She’s the one missing. A fan wrote this morning: “I don’t celebrate her birthday anymore. I just press play.” And maybe that’s the thing about Loretta Lynn. She never really left.
